The High Sheriff presented awards to the families of those who have donated organs. The Order of St John has joined with the National Health Service Blood and Transplant Service and instituted a special award to show the community’s thanks and respect for those who act so selflessly at the end of their lives to save or enhance the lives of others.
The presentations were made in the iconic Port of Liverpool Building on Liverpool’s Waterfront. Since on this occasion all the families were recently bereaved, it is not appropriate to include photographs of the individual presentations here.
